The Karnataka High Court had upheld the state government's decision to invite Booker Prize winner Banu Mushtaq to inaugurate the Mysore Dasara festival. The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the petition questioning this order. Today, the Supreme Court bench will take up this matter.

BJP MP Pratap Simha had filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the High Court opposing Banu Mushtaq's selection as the inaugurator. The bench comprising Chief Justice Vibhu Bakhru and Justice C.M. Joshi had dismissed the petition.TRASE Block Heels Sandals For Women, Dusky Stylish & Comfortable Footwear

The High Court opined that there was no violation of any rules in the selection of the Dasara inaugurator. This verdict was challenged with a special leave petition in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the case on Friday. Due to the Navratri inauguration program scheduled for September 22, the petitioners' counsel urged the bench led by Chief Justice B.R. Gavai to conduct an expedited hearing.

The petition argues that Banu Mushtaq has previously made anti-Hindu statements, and her participation would hurt public sentiments. The Supreme Court will hear arguments on this issue today.
