A Muslim man named Abdullah had adopted the Hindu name "Ramesh" and attempted to check into a room at a lodge near the Sringeri Math with a Hindu woman, claiming she was his wife. Pur taluk had edited his Aadhaar card to list his name as "Ramesh" and tried to book a room at the Sringeri Math lodge. He was accompanied by a 38-year-old woman from Sringeri, whom he falsely introduced as his wife to secure the room.
