IT-GST Officers Treat Wealth Creators Like Thieves: Justice Manmohan Issues Stern Warning

He was speaking at the Nyay Nirman 2025 conclave organized by the General Council of the Bar Association of India (GCAI) on the theme of reimagining India's legal foundations for 'Viksit Bharat @ 2047'. "You can't have a 500-page Income Tax Act with regulations spanning five pages, full of complexities that only the cleverest can comprehend—not ordinary people. If you want to become a futuristic economy, you must reshape the system," he advised.

"You're asking judges to reinterpret laws without providing them adequate legal tools. There is an urgent need for new laws addressing data sovereignty, digital rights, and climate uncertainties related to harm," he added.
