The death toll from a massive cloudburst and heavy rains in and around Dehradun has risen to 30, with 10 people still reported missing. A large number of bodies have been recovered, and search and recovery operations are ongoing.

Sources indicate that among the bodies found is Virendra Singh, a resident of Jharkhand who had been missing since the disaster. Two more bodies have been recovered from Saharanpur and Yamunanagar in Haryana. In total, 30 bodies have been retrieved from various locations so far.

The Parwal area, which was hit by a cloudburst on Tuesday morning, has suffered extensive damage. Of the 14 people who went missing there, ten bodies have been recovered. Rescue and relief operations are in full swing in the affected villages. According to reports, some roads have been partially reopened, allowing for the movement of people and the supply of essential goods. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has visited the affected areas to review the relief and rescue efforts. The state has been experiencing heavy rainfall for the past few weeks, leading to several landslides.

On Thursday, a separate cloudburst in Chamoli claimed seven lives. The combination of heavy rain and a cloudburst in Dehradun and its surrounding areas early Tuesday morning caused widespread destruction.
