Udupi - BJP MLA Sunil Kumar today took a jibe at Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding the caste census, stating that the CM is now trying to become the "Pope of Karnataka." Speaking in Udupi, Kumar remarked that after acting like a "Mullah," the Chief Minister is now resembling a "Father," suggesting that the CM's office is operating under the influence of Christian missionaries. He further criticized the Congress, claiming the party is in disarray, with the CM isolated in his cabinet and the other ministers forming factions.

In his address, Kumar said that Siddaramaiah, after wearing the attire of Tipu, is now adopting the persona of a priest. He accused the CM of engaging in politics within a "Christian sanctum," with the ambition of becoming the "Pope of Karnataka." He claimed that the backward classes commission is conducting the census in a hurry without proper preparation. He alleged that 47 Hindu sub-castes have been included with Christian communities and warned of a protest if they are not removed. Kumar stated that while the CM may understand the constitution, his government has become a puppet in the hands of "mullahs and priests." He urged the CM to conduct an anthropological study, and accused him of "crucifying" the ideal of social justice by attempting to convert Dalits and OBCs, thereby dividing society. He demanded that the government officially publish the list of Christian communities along with their 75+ sub-castes.

"Congress Has Split into Factions"

The BJP MLA also commented on the internal dynamics of the Congress party, claiming that Siddaramaiah has become a solitary figure, "forgotten" by his own party members. He said the cabinet is divided, with the Congress party in a state of confusion. He pointed to different factions led by Siddaramaiah, D.K. Shivakumar, Satish Jarkiholi, G. Parameshwara, and Randeep Surjewala, suggesting that recent developments in November and December have caused the party to split into five different factions.
