Tumakuru (Sep 22): The Tumakuru Dasara festival, celebrating the historical and cultural heritage, was inaugurated by Home Minister and District In-Charge Minister Dr. G. Parameshwar with the Nandi flag worship. Following this, he performed the Dasara flag hoisting and inaugurated the religious pavilion. The event, held at the Junior College ground in Tumakuru city, features a religious pavilion modeled after the Mysuru Palace, where Goddess Chamundeshwari is enshrined.Dignitaries and saints offered prayers to the deity.

Dr. G. Parameshwar, accompanied by his wife, and former minister K.N. Rajanna participated in a homa, with both leaders performing the final offerings. Parameshwar, wearing a traditional headscarf, took part in the religious rituals. The Tumakuru Dasara festival officially began today. As part of the festivities, Goddess Chamundeshwari has been installed in a grandly constructed pavilion named after Trivida Dasohi Shivakumara Mahaswamiji at the Government Pre-University College ground. Puja ceremonies will commence at 5 AM. On the first day of Navratri, the goddess will be adorned as Shailaputri. The event was attended by Railway and Water Resources Minister V. Somanna, Karnataka State Special Representative in New Delhi and Shira MLA T.B. Jayachandra, Backward Classes Welfare and Kannada & Culture Minister Shivaraj Sangappa Tangadagi, along with other public representatives, dignitaries, and officials.
