The Panchmasali Mahapeetha in Koodalasangama has been locked, and a tense silence prevails following the ousting of Basava Jayamrutyunjaya Swamiji. On Sunday, the executive committee of the All India Panchmasali Trust, led by Congress MLA Vijayanand Kashappanavar in Hunagund, announced the decision to remove Swamiji from the Peetha.Speaking as the Peetha’s president, Kashappanavar stated that Swamiji should not return to the Peetha if he has any self-respect. Despite Swamiji traveling to Koodalasangama after his ousting, he was denied permission to hold a meeting. Due to Kashappanavar’s instructions, no venues were made available.
As a result, Swamiji held a meeting with devotees under a banyan tree, where he became emotional. Meanwhile, Vachanananda Swamiji of the Harihara Panchmasali Peetha in Davanagere declined to comment on the ousting.Basava Jayamrutyunjaya Swamiji, along with his devotees and community leaders, decided to hold a meeting and discussed establishing a new Peetha in Koodalasangama. This development follows an earlier incident in July when the Panchmasali Peetha was abruptly locked overnight, sparking widespread Blue Heaven Festive Makeup Kit Set | Pack of 8 Makeup Essentials | Complete Makeup Kit Set for women | Ideal for Festive Looks, Gifting & Bridal Makeup | Medium Tone Combo | Pack of 8 | 32.1g+45.5ml
It is alleged that the Peetha was locked on Kashappanavar’s orders, after which Swamiji’s supporters broke the lock. An FIR was filed against five individuals in this regard. During the BJP government led by Basavaraj Bommai, the Panchmasali reservation movement had gained significant attention across the state. At that time, Congress Panchmasali leaders like Vijayanand Kashappanavar, Hebbalkar, and BJP leader Yatnal led the movement. However, once Congress came to power, its leaders withdrew from the agitation.
During this period, BJP’s Panchmasali leader Yatnal and Peetha president Basava Jayamrutyunjaya Swamiji advocated for unity, which caused a rift between Kashappanavar and Swamiji. Amid these developments, the Peetha was locked. In July, Kashappanavar had warned that Swamiji would be removed from the Peetha if the situation demanded it. Now, with his warning coming to fruition, curiosity surrounds Basava Jayamrutyunjaya Swamiji’s next move.
