Social activist Mahesh Shetty Thimarody, known for his controversial statements and advocacy in the Dharmasthala case, has been ordered to leave the Dakshina Kannada district for one year. The order, issued on September 20 by Puttur Sub-Divisional Officer (AC) Stella Varghese, was reportedly based on a recommendation from the Belthangady police.
Thimarody, a vocal protestpr for justice in the Soujanya case, faces more than 32 criminal charges, including a case related to illegal firearms. Police reports state that these activities are seen as a threat to public peace. The police also allege that Thimarody had provided shelter to Chinnayya, a key witness in a related case.
Following the order, Thimarody has reportedly gone into hiding, and his current location is unknown.
According to the police, he has been exiled to Manvi taluk in Raichur district, a location where he is said to have no support or connections. Chinnayya's Statement Recorded in Court -
In a related development, Chinnayya, a witness in the case concerning the alleged burial of a body in Dharmasthala, appeared before a judge and gave a tearful statement.
