Shivamogga, September 24: A horrific incident occurred near Yakkunda village in Bhadravathi taluk, where a woman named Swathi was allegedly murdered by her lover, Surya, who pushed her into the Bhadra canal. After the murder, Surya attempted suicide by consuming poison. A murder case has been registered against Surya and his father, Swami, at the Bhadravathi Rural Police Station, and both have been taken into custody.

Surya and Swathi were in a relationship, and Swathi was a second-year degree student. Surya was pressuring her for marriage, but Swathi’s family refused until she completed her education. On the same day, Surya allegedly lured Swathi to the canal and pushed her, leading to her death. Swathi’s body was found on Tuesday evening, and her family filed a complaint against Surya and Swami on September 23. The Bhadravathi Rural Police have registered a murder case against Surya (A1) and Swami (A2) and arrested both.
