Renowned Kannada litterateur S.L. Bhyrappa passed away at the age of 94. He breathed his last in Bengaluru on September 24, and condolences are being expressed everywhere. Many of Bhyrappa’s acclaimed novels have been adapted into films.
Based on his novel Vamshavruksha, a film of the same name was released in 1971. Directed by B.V. Karanth and Girish Karnad, the movie featured Vishnuvardhan in a lead role and holds a significant place in Kannada cinema.

Bhyrappa’s novels Gruhabhanga and Daatu have been adapted into TV serials. Additionally, based on his novel Parva, Prakash Belawadi directed a play that saw several successful performances.
