Prajwal had sought to move the cases from the bench of Judge Santosh Gajanan Bhat to another bench. Challenging the Bengaluru Principal City Civil and Sessions Court’s refusal to transfer the cases, Prajwal filed petitions, which were dismissed by Justice M.I. Arun’s single-judge bench. Also Read: Dharmasthala Case: SIT Probes Family of Rangaprasad, Were Sujatha Bhat worked as a Caretaker
“The trial court appears intent on conducting the proceedings on a day-to-day basis and may have rejected the petitioner’s requests to delay the trial. While some observations in the judgment may seem harsh, they cannot be interpreted as judicial bias. The petitioner has attempted to delay the trial, which the trial court has rejected. If this were considered grounds for transfer, similar petitions would arise in most criminal cases, which the court cannot permit,” the bench observed while dismissing the pleas. Additional Special Public Prosecutor B.N. Jagadeesh represented the state government.
