To combat eve-teasing and atrocities against women, the ‘Rani Chennamma Squad’ has been formed and launched under the leadership of DCP B.S. Nemagowda in the North Division of Bengaluru. On Friday, Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh flagged off the Rani Chennamma Squad at Malleshwaram Grounds.
The event was attended by Joint Commissioner (West) Vamshi Krishna, film actress Sudharani, DCP Nemagowda, and other senior officials. The Rani Chennamma Squad consists of one woman inspector leading three sub-inspectors and 15 police personnel. DCP Nemagowda stated that the squad will not only focus on women’s safety but also conduct legal awareness programs. The squad has been trained in self-defense techniques by experienced trainers. Workshops on self-defense will be organized for school and college girls. Additionally, the squad will patrol schools, colleges, bus stands, and crowded areas from morning to evening. During these patrols, miscreants harassing women will be apprehended, as informed by the DCP.
