Rao, the son of BJP leader Jagannivas Rao, who allegedly deceived a young woman by promising marriage and engaging in physical relations with her. DNA tests have confirmed that Krishna J. Rao is the father of the child born to the woman. The victim’s family is pressing for marriage, urging Hindu organizations to mediate and unite the two families instead of pursuing a legal battle.

Mangaluru, September 27, 2025: A case in Puttur, Dakshina Kannada, involving Krishna J. Rao, son of BJP leader Jagannivas Rao, has reached a critical stage. Krishna allegedly promised marriage to a young woman, engaged in physical relations, and later deceived her. The victim’s family and K.P. Nanjundi, president of the Vishwakarma Mahasabha, have confirmed that a DNA test has established Krishna J. Rao as the father of the child born to the woman.For months, the victim’s family has been seeking justice through legal means. The DNA report has now returned positive, confirming that Krishna J. Rao is responsible for the woman’s pregnancy. K.P. Nanjundi has called on Hindu organizations to step in and facilitate the marriage of the couple. “Rather than a legal battle, we wish for the two families to unite and for the couple to live together. Hindu leaders in Puttur should take the initiative,” he stated.

Case Background:
Krishna J. Rao and the victim were acquaintances since their school days. Under the promise of marriage, Krishna engaged in physical relations with her, leading to her pregnancy. Initially, both families agreed to the marriage after discussions. However, as the delivery date approached, the accused’s family backed out. The victim then filed a complaint at the Puttur Women’s Police Station, leading to an FIR. Krishna went into hiding but was later arrested and released on bail.

Details of the Complaint:
On October 11, 2024, when the victim was alone at home, Krishna allegedly coerced her to visit his house and attempted physical relations. Despite her resistance, he promised marriage and insisted on keeping the matter confidential. In January 2025, he again engaged in physical relations with her, resulting in her pregnancy. When the victim informed her family, discussions between the families led to an initial agreement for marriage.

However, Krishna later reneged, prompting the victim to seek legal recourse. Based on her complaint, a case was registered under Sections 64(1) and 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The victim gave birth to the child, and when the case reached the court, the accused’s family demanded a DNA test. The positive DNA report has now confirmed Krishna J. Rao as the father, according to the victim’s family.
