Chikkaballapur (Sep 28): A teacher conducting a social-educational survey for the Backward Classes Commission was injured after being bitten by a dog in the city on Saturday. The injured teacher, identified as Rajani from Koothanahalli Government Primary School, was attacked by a dog at PDO Narayanaswamy’s house in Thimmakka Layout while completing the survey. Rajani immediately sought treatment at the district hospital, where doctors advised her to take daily rabies vaccinations.
Enumerators expressed concern, stating, "We are assigned to survey unfamiliar and unknown areas. We have no way of knowing which houses or streets might have dogs that could attack."Mandya Stray Dog Attacks: Over 18 Seriously Injured. The injured received primary treatment in Halagur and were admitted to Malavalli Hospital for further care. The continuous attacks have created a climate of fear among the public. Children, women, and the elderly are scared to venture outside. Morning newspaper and milk distributors are also facing issues due to the stray dog menace. The stray dog population has surged in Halagur and surrounding villages, causing fear among residents and preventing children from stepping outside. When contacted, Gram Panchayat Development Officer K. Chethan said, "The issue of stray dogs in Halagur and nearby villages has been brought to the attention of higher authorities. Appropriate action will be taken within the next four to five days."
