BRICS Extends Support to India: Condemns Pahalgam Attack, Pledges Full Support for India’s 2026 BRICS Presidency

The BRICS countries—Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE)—urged all nations to reject double standards in combating terrorism and reaffirmed their commitment to countering all forms of terrorism, including cross-border terrorist activities.

BRICS nations have strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent people, describing it as "criminal and unjustifiable." The BRICS countries—Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE)—urged all nations to reject double standards in combating terrorism and reaffirmed their commitment to countering all forms of terrorism, including cross-border terrorist activities.

The statement was issued following the annual meeting of BRICS Foreign Affairs and International Relations Ministers during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York on Friday (local time). India was represented by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. The ministers emphasized that terrorism should not be associated with any religion, nationality, civilization, or ethnic group. Additionally, BRICS nations expressed concern over trade-restrictive measures, such as unilateral tariff hikes, particularly those imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, which are causing global economic challenges.
