Bidadi farmers have refused to give up their land for the Greater Bangalore Integrated Township project and have staged an all-night protest. The JD(S) has extended support to their agitation, leading to a political crisis.

The farmers' outrage against the Bidadi Integrated Township project is intensifying. After JD(S) openly supported the protest, it has taken a political turn. The farmers, adamant about not giving up their land, have expressed their discontent against Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and local MLAs.The state government's ambitious Greater Bangalore Integrated Township project has faced opposition from the outset.read also: Bigg Boss Kannada 12 Starts with a Shock... The government plans to implement this project, costing ₹20,000 crore, over approximately 9,000 acres near Bidadi in Ramanagara taluk. However, farmers in the Bidadi region have refused to part with their land and are holding an all-night protest.JD(S) leaders have joined the farmers’ agitation near Bairamangala village. Recently, DK Shivakumar expressed anger against farmers protesting near the Ramanagara DC office. In response, Nikhil Kumaraswamy retorted, “He may thump his thigh and talk, but farmers have the strength to break thighs.”Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy has also expressed support for the farmers via video conference, assuring them that he would personally visit the site if they face any trouble. While DK Shivakumar insists the project will be implemented, JD(S) has challenged, “We won’t let it happen; let’s see how you do it.”For the Bidadi Township project, the government issued a preliminary notification in March 2025 to acquire over 7,000 acres of land. The notification mentioned acquiring 7,293.44 acres across nine villages in Ramanagara and Harohalli taluks of Ramanagara district.
