Actor and Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay received a bomb threat call on Sunday. This incident occurred right after the stampede during the TVK rally in Karur, where 40 people lost their lives.
In the wake of the bomb threat, security has been heightened at Vijay's residence in Chennai. In Friday's rally, 10 children, 17 women, and 13 men—totaling 40 people—succumbed to the tragedy. Reacting to the stampede, Vijay stated that the event has shattered his heart and issued a statement expressing his grief. Through his X account, Vijay paid tribute to those who lost their lives and prayed for the quick recovery of the injured.
However, he has not visited the hospital or met with the families of the deceased. Compensation of 20 lakhs each has been announced for the families of those who died in the stampede. Meanwhile, in connection with the stampede case, Vijay's side has filed a petition in the Madras High Court seeking an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or an independent agency. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also announced compensation of 2 lakhs each for the families of the deceased.
