According to the report, the Kuruba community relies on their traditional occupation for their livelihood. They have preserved their unique culture, art, dance, justice systems, and traditions. The community, spread across 25 districts in Karnataka, possesses these traits, the report clarifies.The study reveals that while Kurubas are found throughout the state, their population is smaller in coastal areas. They are primarily identified as ‘Kuruba’ across Karnataka, but in Belagavi and Vijayapura districts, they are known as ‘Dhanagar.’The community has a mythological background and follows its own beliefs, customs, and practices.
