Following a new statement by complainant Chinnayya in the Beltangadi court, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is likely to intensify its probe. The hearing for Mahesh Shetty Timarodi’s bail plea has been scheduled for September 30.

Beltangadi:Chinnayya, in his latest statement to the Beltangadi court, has sparked possibilities of a renewed SIT investigation. Based on the new details in his statement, the investigation is expected to gain momentum. Sources indicate he has retracted his earlier statements. However, a case has already been filed against him for allegedly providing false testimony, and an investigation is underway.Previously, based on Chinnayya’s statements, Girish Mattannavar, Jayan, and Vithal Gowda were interrogated. Contradictory statements during their questioning raised doubts about Chinnayya’s credibility. Chinnayya now claims he was coerced into giving his earlier statement. Authorities will cross-check his previous statements with those of Soujanya activists. Although Chinnayya denies knowledge of a skull, earlier information suggested it was retrieved from Bangle Gudde forest.Despite Chinnayya altering his statement, a thorough investigation could implicate him again.
