Zoho Corporation’s new Indian messaging app, ‘Arattai,’ is emerging as a strong alternative to WhatsApp, gaining widespread popularity. The app is being downloaded by over 3 lakh users daily.While WhatsApp remains the go-to messaging app for many globally, Arattai is carving out its own space, sparking curiosity among chat enthusiasts. Developed by the homegrown tech giant Zoho Corporation, this messaging app has become a hot topic across the country.
In just three days, its downloads via Google Play have surged significantly.Initially, the app saw around 3,000 sign-ups daily, but this number has skyrocketed to 3.5 lakh per day, as revealed by Zoho’s founder, Sridhar Vembu, on social media. ‘Arattai,’ meaning ‘to talk’ in Tamil, was launched in 2021 but has recently gained immense traction. It offers features similar to WhatsApp, including personal chats, group conversations, and photo and video sharing.
In addition, Arattai includes voice messages, stories, and channels, making it a comprehensive messaging platform. Beyond basic text, media, and file-sharing capabilities, it also supports audio and video calls.The app ensures security with end-to-end encryption for calls and connects seamlessly to desktops and Android TVs. It also offers tools tailored for businesses. Zoho has emphasized that it does not monetize user data, prioritizing privacy.
