Political and Government Response
Opposition parties, including AIADMK, have blamed the state government for security lapses. Chief Minister Stalin announced an ex-gratia payment of ₹10 lakh for the families of the deceased and ₹1 lakh for the injured from the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund. Vijay, on behalf of TVK, pledged ₹20 lakh per victim’s family, acknowledging that this amount cannot compensate for the immense loss of life and suffering.
As investigations continue, Vijay’s emotional plea underscores his effort to shield his party members while accepting personal accountability, amid growing scrutiny ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
