Madras High Court Rejects TVK Plea for CBI Probe into Karur Stampede Case.!

The Madras High Court has dismissed the petition seeking a CBI investigation into the Karur stampede incident, which occurred during a rally led by TVK party leader and actor Vijay, resulting in the death of over 40 people. The court clarified that the investigation is still in its initial stage, and it is not possible to issue a higher directive at this point.

The Madras High Court has dismissed a petition filed by the Thamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) party, led by actor-politician Vijay, seeking a CBI investigation into the fatal stampede at a political rally in Karur that resulted in over 40 deaths. The court ruled that it could not issue such a high-level order while the investigation was still in its initial stages.

The Madras High Court expressed displeasure with TVK's conduct and alleged negligence during the rally in Karur. In response to the application seeking a CBI probe even as the Tamil Nadu Police investigation had just begun the court rejected the plea.

The bench of Justices M. Dhandapani and M. Jothiraman clarified that superior orders, like handing the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), could not be issued when the investigation was still in its nascent stages. The court expressed disappointment, cautioning the parties not to turn the courts into "political forums."

The judges stated that they would protect the interests of the victims' families if they approached the court, but reiterated that the court should not be treated as a political arena. The court also questioned the government and police officials regarding the arrangements made for the rally, to which the government's counsel sought time to respond. iPhone 16 128 GB: 5G Mobile Phone with Camera Control, A18 Chip and a Big Boost in Battery Life. The court directed that it is the responsibility of the government and political parties to ensure proper arrangements are in place at designated venues for political rallies or meetings. It was reported that multiple applications related to the incident were filed. The court also issued a notice to the government regarding increasing the compensation amount and adjourned the hearing to October 18. Also Read: Will the Survey Conclude in Three Days?
