In a major push toward the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-Reliant India) initiative, the Central government has directed the Ministry of Education to transition all official documentation, spreadsheets, and presentations to the Zoho Office Suite. The directive, which reinforces Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for indigenous technology, instructs all officials within the Education Ministry to use the Zoho platform for all technology and document-related tasks.
Strengthening Digital Sovereignty -
The move is seen as a crucial step towards achieving digital sovereignty and supporting native technology. The Department of Higher Education issued an official circular stating that by adopting Zoho's locally developed tools, India can reduce its reliance on foreign software and secure its data.
"This step signifies an innovation that will strengthen a self-reliant future by empowering and securing our data, thereby reducing dependency on foreign software," the circular noted.
Following this directive, all Ministry staff are now required to use the Zoho Office Suite to create, edit, and share official documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. Notably, the Zoho platform is integrated with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) email system, facilitating a smooth transition.
