Mumbai (Oct 9): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the first phase of the Navi Mumbai Airport, constructed at a cost of Rs. 19,650 crore. This is Mumbai's second airport and India’s largest greenfield airport. It also holds the distinction of being the country’s first fully digitized airport.

Spanning 1,160 hectares, the airport has been developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model. As the second international airport in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, it will reduce the pressure on the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
