Chaibasa, October 10, 2025 – In a shocking case of alleged fraud within the education sector, three teachers from different schools in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district were suspended on Friday for reportedly collecting money from their colleagues under the false pretext of expediting the payment of their pending salaries and dues. The incident, centered in Chaibasa, has raised concerns over financial distress among government teachers and potential exploitation amid delays in salary disbursals.

The suspended teachers, who have not been named publicly pending further investigation, are accused of orchestrating a deceptive scheme targeting postgraduate trained educators. The District Education Officer (DEO) acted swiftly on the recommendation of the Deputy Commissioner, invoking the Jharkhand Government Servant (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 2016, to suspend all three with immediate effect. A formal statement from the DEO confirmed the action, emphasizing zero tolerance for such misconduct among public servants.

Official Response and Investigation

West Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Suraj Kumar was quoted as saying, "This is a serious breach of trust. We have initiated a detailed probe, and more names could emerge if others were involved." The investigation, now led by the district vigilance team, aims to recover the defrauded amounts and ascertain if the scheme extended beyond the three accused.
