Renowned senior actor Pankaj Dheer has passed away at the age of 68. Battling cancer, he breathed his last in Mumbai on October 15, 2025. He became particularly popular through the role of Karna in the 'Mahabharata' serial. He acted in the Kannada film 'Vishnu Vijaya' alongside Dr. Vishnuvardhan.

His close friend Amit Behl confirmed Pankaj Dheer's death to India Today. While undergoing treatment for cancer, he had shown signs of recovery a few months ago. However, his health had recently deteriorated. He had also undergone major surgery.

The Cine and TV Artistes' Association (CINTAA) has expressed condolences over his passing. In a statement, it said: "With profound grief, we are saddened to inform you that Shri Pankaj Dheer, our Trust's former Chairman and CINTAA's former Hon. General Secretary, passed away on October 15, 2025. Through his unforgettable portrayal of Karna in B.R. Chopra's 'Mahabharata' produced in the late 1980s, Pankaj Dheer became a household name across the country. His dignified and emotionally charged performance as the tragic warrior earned immense appreciation from audiences.

Besides the role of Karna, he acted in several prominent TV programs.
