In a related event, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the third production facility for the Tejas Mk1A and the second production unit for the HTT-40 basic trainer aircraft, underscoring the government's commitment to boosting indigenous defense manufacturing.

India's indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), the Tejas Mk1A, successfully conducted its maiden flight in Nashik on Friday. The video of the flight has since gone viral. The aircraft was developed and manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

The Tejas Mk1A is a sophisticated, multirole fighter jet designed to replace the Indian Air Force's (IAF) aging MiG-21 fleet. The aircraft is equipped with several advanced features, including the indigenous "Uttam" AESA radar, advanced Electronic Warfare (EW) technology, a self-protection jammer, and is powered by the GE Aerospace F404 engine. The jet, capable of reaching speeds of up to 2,220 km/h (Mach 1.8), showcased its defense capabilities during its flight today. This successful maiden test significantly strengthens India's defense strategy and highlights the country's advancements in domestic aerospace technology.
