Dr. Kritika Reddy M**urder Case: Surgeon Husband Buys Anesthetic and Administers It to Wife

Dr. Kritika M. Reddy, a dermatologist at Victoria Hospital, tied the knot with Dr. Mahendra Reddy GS, a 31-year-old surgical resident at the Institute of Gastroenterology Sciences and Organ Transplant (IGOT), in an arranged marriage on March or May 26, 2024 (reports vary on the exact date).

Bengaluru, October 20, 2025: A shocking twist has emerged in the murder case of Bengaluru-based dermatologist Dr. Kritika Reddy, revealing that her husband, a surgeon, purchased Propofol—an anesthetic drug—from a medical shop and injected it into her, leading to her death from an overdose. The 28-year-old doctor, who married Mahendra Reddy in 2024, succumbed after her brain entered a coma stage due to the lethal dose while she was resting at home due to pain.

The wedding, reportedly costing around ₹2 crore and funded by Kritika's father K. Muni Reddy, was meant to be a union of two medical professionals. However, marital discord arose due to an alleged extramarital affair, undisclosed pre-marital health issues (such as gastrointestinal problems and low blood pressure), and financial demands from Mahendra's side for setting up a private hospital. On April 24, 2025, while Kritika was suffering from gastritis and abdominal pain at their residence in Munnekollal, Whitefield, Mahendra allegedly administered intravenous injections over two days under the pretense of treatment.YUISI Sun Hat for Men Women, Breathable Summer Hat for Travel, Hiking, Gardening, Sun Hats for Men & Round Sun Cap for Hiking, Hats for Women Indoor Outdoor Activities

Investigations revealed he visited a nearby medical shop to procure Propofol, a powerful intravenous anesthetic typically restricted to operating theaters for inducing and maintaining unconsciousness during surgery or sedation.

He then injected the overdose into Kritika, causing her to collapse unconscious. Instead of performing CPR or seeking immediate help, Mahendra rushed her to Cauvery Hospital in Marathahalli, staging it as a sudden fainting episode. She was declared dead on arrival, with the initial cause listed as unnatural but seemingly natural (possibly cardiac arrest or GI-related). Mahendra even pleaded with hospital staff and police to skip the autopsy, and convinced Kritika's father to make a similar request, attempting to cover up the crime.

Investigation and Arrest: The Marathahalli Police, led by Inspector Anil Kumar and his team, registered an unnatural death case at the family's insistence, particularly from Kritika's elder sister, Dr. Nikitha M. Reddy, a radiologist who suspected foul play. Viscera samples from the autopsy were sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). Six months later, on October 13-14, 2025, the FSL report confirmed high levels of Propofol in her organs, turning the case into a premeditated murder under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Seized items include laptops, mobiles, and medical records for further forensic analysis, including hospital CCTV footage. Kritika's father filed a fresh complaint, stating, "Kruthika trusted her husband completely... But the same medical knowledge that should have saved lives was used to end hers."
