A Rs. 1,000 Flight to This Wonderful City... Do You Know Where This Haven of Nature and Culture Is?

Nestled amidst the Lushai Hills, Aizawl blends the serene beauty of nature with the simplicity of Mizo culture, creating a unique city where time seems to stand still.

While backpacking through Tripura, I unexpectedly reached Aizawl on a flight costing just Rs. 1,000. Within just 24 hours, this city left an indelible mark on my heart. Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, is situated among the Lushai Hills at an elevation of about 3,750 feet above sea level. Often called the “Home of the Highlanders,” the city features white houses perched on slopes, narrow roads winding through the hills, and the sounds of singing from churches—all contributing to Aizawl’s distinct tranquility.

Unlike other hill stations, Aizawl lacks sprawling parks or colonial-style buildings, yet it showcases the true spirit of Mizoram—peaceful, disciplined, and self-sufficient.Titan Neo Analog Blue Dial Men's Watch NM1734KM02/NN1734KM02/NP1734KM02

The weather is most pleasant from March to May. From October to March, evenings can get chilly, but days remain warm. The monsoon season from June to September brings lush greenery to the hills, though heavy rains can sometimes disrupt travel.

Visiting during the Chapchar Kut festival in March allows you to experience Mizoram’s culture, dance, and music firsthand.
