Chittapur, Kalaburagi: The Karnataka High Court on Friday directed the state government to convene a peace meeting on October 28 with all organizations, including the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which has sought permission for a path sanchalan (march) in Chittapur on November 2, as well as other groups requesting to hold meetings or protests. The directive came during a hearing by Justice MGS Kamal on a petition filed by RSS Kalaburagi district coordinator Ashok Patil, challenging the Chittapur Tahsildar's denial of permission for the march on October 19. The court's order noted: "On October 19, this court directed the authorities to consider the actual situation and the petitioner’s request. Accordingly, the government has submitted a report. The relevant authority will hold a peace meeting with the organizations seeking to conduct meetings or protests. Since October 19, a tense atmosphere has persisted in Chittapur town. Media reports indicate that several organizations have issued statements for and against the march, raising concerns about law and order if permission is granted. In this context, the local administration has decided to hold a peace meeting with leaders of various organizations. Considering the report and arguments, the respondent local administration is directed to conduct the peace meeting on October 28. The matter will be heard on October 30 at 2:30 PM."
