The intensifying Cyclone Montha in the Bay of Bengal has prompted a rain alert for the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Odisha. Authorities have been put on high alert, as the storm is expected to bring widespread heavy rainfall accompanied by winds gusting at speeds of 90-100 km/h.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has cautioned that the low-pressure system associated with Cyclone Montha, which is approaching the eastern coast from the Bay of Bengal, will result in extremely heavy rainfall over coastal areas in the coming weeks.

Following the low-pressure area that formed over the Bay of Bengal on October 26 and the subsequent intensification of Cyclone Montha, heavy rainfall is forecast for the coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh and parts of Rayalaseema.
