Background of the Name Change:
This move aligns with the Maharashtra government's decision, led by the Eknath Shinde-led Mahayuti government, to rename the city of Aurangabad as 'Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar' approximately three years ago. The city, originally named after Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, has been renamed in honor of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the second ruler of the Maratha Empire and son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The Maharashtra government issued a gazette notification for this name change on October 15, 2025.Also Read; "My Political Career Isn't Over... I'll Be Back in 2028" - Kamala Harris
