Karwar: In a major crackdown on tax evasion, police seized Rs 1 crore in undocumented cash being transported in a private bus at the Majali Check Post in Karwar taluk. The cash was discovered in bags belonging to two individuals, Kalpesh Kumar and Bombara Ram, during a routine inspection of the vehicle.

The duo was en route from Goa to Bengaluru with the money, which has been confirmed to belong to MXON Electrical Hardware Company. Authorities suspect the cash was concealed in the bags to dodge income tax obligations. Both accused have been taken into custody, and the seized amount has been handed over to Income Tax (IT) officials for further investigation.
