Bengaluru, Oct. 29: In a shocking incident at the Venugopalaswamy Temple in Devra Beesanahalli on Tuesday morning around 8:30 AM, a youth arrived shouting Islamic slogans and entered the sanctum sanctorum armed with a slipper leg. He desecrated the deity's idol by rubbing it with the slipper and engaging in vulgar acts, locals alleged. Prior to storming the temple, the accused had struck a photo of Lord Ganesha placed in front of a nearby medical store with a stick and hurled a stone at the temple's flagpole.

He was also carrying a bottle of alcohol, which he used to create a disturbance inside the temple premises. The perpetrator, identified as Kabir – a man with special mental conditions who runs a slipper repair shop in the area – left temple staff stunned upon witnessing his obscene actions. Marathahalli police rushed to the scene, conducted an inspection, and seized the slipper, stone, and alcohol bottle from his possession. Further investigation will commence once he is discharged from the hospital.The incident has sparked widespread outrage among locals, who are demanding stringent measures against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.
