Bengaluru, Oct. 29: In a shocking incident at the Venugopalaswamy Temple in Devra Beesanahalli on Tuesday morning around 8:30 AM, a youth arrived shouting Islamic slogans and entered the sanctum sanctorum armed with a slipper leg. He desecrated the deity's idol by rubbing it with the slipper and engaging in vulgar acts, locals alleged. Prior to storming the temple, the accused had struck a photo of Lord Ganesha placed in front of a nearby medical store with a stick and hurled a stone at the temple's flagpole.

He was also carrying a bottle of alcohol, which he used to create a disturbance inside the temple premises. The perpetrator, identified as Kabir – a man with special mental conditions who runs a slipper repair shop in the area – left temple staff stunned upon witnessing his obscene actions. Locals quickly gathered, apprehended him, tied him up, and thrashed him before handing him over to the police.
