I believe we will have a wonderful relationship for a long time."Prior to the summit, officials from both countries had prepared in Kuala Lumpur to set the agenda for talks.

China's top trade negotiator, Li Chenggang, issued a statement indicating preliminary agreement, which was confirmed by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.According to Jay Trusdale, CEO of TD International and a former State Department official, Xi Jinping is looking to leverage this opportunity to position China as a reliable partner and strengthen bilateral and multilateral ties with countries frustrated by the US administration's tariff policies.
