'Garbage Dumping Festival' in Bengaluru: GBA Launches Unique Drive to Combat Littering!

Regarding waste disposal in the city, Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML), which functions under the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), has launched a campaign called “Garbage Dumping Festival” to take action against those who do not dispose of waste properly.

The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), through the Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML), has introduced a unique and stringent campaign named 'Kasa Suriva Habba' (Garbage Throwing Festival) to take action against residents who improperly dispose of waste. Under this campaign, waste carelessly dumped in public areas will reportedly be returned to the doorstep of the offenders.

The capital city consistently grapples with issues related to waste disposal and management. Faced with public negligence, the GBA is now taking tough measures against those who dump unsegregated garbage anywhere in public spaces.

Campaign Details:

Launch: BSWML has initiated the 'Kasa Suriva Habba' across 190 wards under the city’s five municipal corporations.

The Action: The campaign targets individuals who litter public areas, aiming to instill discipline in waste collection and management.

Official Statement: Despite numerous awareness campaigns, senior officials stated that the public continues to wrap waste in plastic and polythene bags and dump it on street corners. They confirmed that strict action will now be taken to curb this practice.

The campaign was initiated following strict instructions from Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar, who is also the Minister for Bengaluru Development and District In-charge, to GBA Chief Commissioner Maheswara Rao. Nermosa Women Printed Anarkali Kurta and Pant Set with Dupatta

Evidence and Enforcement:

BSWML Managing Director Karigowda confirmed the initiative to the media, stating it was enforced to control the garbage menace. He explained the enforcement process:

"Our marshals have video-recorded the act. Based on this evidence, we have tracked their addresses and phone numbers. We are providing them with proof of their unhygienic act by returning the garbage."

The move is intended to hold citizens accountable for irresponsible waste disposal and enforce greater discipline in solid waste management across Bengaluru. Also Read: PM Modi to Visit Udupi Sri Krishna Math for the First Time, Attend Geethotsava
