2020 Delhi CAA Riots Were a Pre-Planned Conspiracy, Says Police — What Evidence Do They Have?

The Delhi Police have revealed that the 2020 anti-CAA riots were not spontaneous incidents but a premeditated conspiracy deliberately designed to destabilize the country’s administrative system.

The anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) riots that took place in Delhi in 2020 were not random incidents. Instead, they were part of a pre-planned conspiracy aimed at overthrowing the country's administrative system, according to explosive revelations made by the Delhi Police.

According to the police, the forces behind these incidents intended to create similar riots across the country to bring about instability. They also alleged that there was an attempt to portray the CAA as an attack on Muslims at the international level.

In an affidavit filed before the Supreme Court opposing the bail pleas of Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam, and others arrested in connection with the riots that claimed 53 lives, the Delhi Police stated that the accused should remain in jail and are not entitled to bail.

The police asserted that the dissent against the CAA was misused to carry out a systematic attack on the sovereignty and integrity of India. The affidavit mentions that the investigation has uncovered sufficient documents and evidence against the accused.

The police further alleged that during U.S. President Donald Trump’s visit to India, the accused had planned to incite communal riots in order to attract international media attention and escalate the CAA issue globally.

This, they said, was a coordinated and planned riot. Similar incidents reportedly took place in Uttar Pradesh, Assam, West Bengal, Kerala, and Karnataka.

Accused Umar Khalid was identified as one of the main planners behind the “chakka jam” (road blockade) campaign. The Delhi Protest Support Group (DPSG) was allegedly formed to execute this conspiracy. Photographs and chat records have been cited as evidence.
