Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has instructed that the use of plastic water bottles be completely banned in all government meetings and programs held across the state, and instead, utensils made from environment-friendly materials should be used. Additionally, all departmental heads have been directed to mandatorily serve Nandini snacks from the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) in these meetings.
In a note sent to Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh, the Chief Minister has directed that in all government offices, meetings, and events across the state, vessels made from leaves, paper, or other eco-friendly materials should be used instead of plastic water bottles. He has emphasized that the concerned authorities must take necessary steps to strictly enforce this rule. The objective is to help control plastic waste.
Similarly, the Chief Minister has directed that Nandini snacks from the government-owned KMF be mandatorily provided in meetings and programs of all government institutions across the state, including departmental ministers' offices and secretariats. This instruction has been communicated to all departmental heads, who have also been directed to issue suitable orders for its implementation.
