Bengaluru - In a swift operation, police from the Chikkajala Police Station in Bengaluru Rural district have arrested a conman who was cheating farmers under the guise of tractor rentals. The accused has been identified as Devaraj.Devaraj would approach farmers, promising to rent out their tractors on a monthly basis for a fixed fee of ₹30,000 per tractor. To build trust, he would even sign legal agreements with them.
Lured by the prospect of steady monthly income, several farmers handed over their tractors to him.Initially, he would pay the rent for one or two months to keep the farmers hooked. However, unbeknownst to them, Devaraj would then sell these tractors at half price or less to farmers in border areas of Karnataka and Bagalkot district.
When farmers demanded their rent or sought to reclaim their tractors, Devaraj would vanish without a trace. With no other recourse, the duped farmers finally lodged a complaint at the Chikkajala Police Station. Acting promptly, the police registered the case and successfully nabbed the fraudster who had spun a web of deceit. During interrogation, Devaraj's statement left investigators stunned. "Scamming is a one-time thrill, Swami, thrill!" he reportedly said, justifying his actions.
