Car Sunroof Misuse: Transport Department Warns of Strict Action After Children's Lives Are Endangered

Traveling with children standing out through the sunroof of luxury cars has become a fashion trend in the capital city.

Bengaluru: Traveling with children standing out through the sunroof of luxury cars has become a fashion trend in the capital city. However, this practice is endangering children's lives. Following a series of such incidents, the Transport Department has taken serious notice and warned that strict action will be taken against vehicle owners who misuse the sunroof.

Warning Issued After Serious Accident

A recent serious incident in Vidyaranyapura, Bengaluru, has once again highlighted this danger:

A child standing up through the sunroof while on a 'joyride' was severely injured after hitting an iron arch over the road. Although the child fortunately survived, the severe injuries served as a cautionary tale regarding the dangers of standing in the sunroof.

Transport Department Prepares for Strict Action

The Transport Department has taken the incident and several other potential dangers seriously and is preparing to curb the misuse of sunroofs. Omkareshwari, Additional Commissioner of the Transport Department, spoke to the media regarding the issue:

"Numerous accidents are occurring due to children standing and traveling in car sunroofs. We will first raise public awareness about this matter. If such incidents are observed even after the awareness campaign, strict legal action will be taken against the car owners."

Omkareshwari, Additional Commissioner, Transport Department.

The Department's statement serves as a serious warning to parents and vehicle owners who allow children to stand and travel through the sunroof.
