Karnataka Proposes Renaming Four Railway Stations After Local Saints; MB Patil Writes to Union Home Ministry

The minister has recommended through an official letter that the railway stations in Vijayapura, Belagavi, Bidar, and Shivamogga be renamed after revered saints, in recognition of their local cultural significance.

The Karnataka government has initiated a move to rename four railway stations across the state after local cultural icons and revered saints. State Infrastructure Development Minister M. B. Patil has formally written to the Union Home Ministry, recommending the name changes to reflect the local cultural significance of the areas.

The Minister has requested the Centre to approve the renaming of the following four railway stations and publish the decision in the official Gazette:

Minister Patil emphasized that the objective is to make the railway stations a reflection of the rich local culture and heritage of Karnataka.
