Bagalkote, November 13: The ongoing protest by sugarcane farmers in Mudhol, Bagalkote district, demanding a price of ₹3,500 per quintal of sugarcane, has gained significant support from students of Ramesh Gadadannavar High School, Shirala. A student, in particular, drew attention with her passionate speech condemning the neglect of farmers.
The student vehemently argued that despite the farmers' tireless efforts, sugar factory owners and the government are failing to provide a fair price for their produce. She asserted that demanding ₹3,500 per ton of sugarcane is the farmers' legitimate right.
"Farmers cultivate sugarcane by taking loans, but ultimately, they are left with nothing. When one kilogram of sugar fetches ₹42, demanding ₹3,500 per ton of sugarcane is justifiable," she questioned, highlighting the massive discrepancy in profit sharing.
