Bengaluru – Opposition parties, including the BJP and JDS, have jointly criticized the ruling Congress government in Karnataka, accusing it of severe failure in addressing the escalating crisis surrounding sugarcane pricing in the North Karnataka region.
Kumaraswamy Cites Factory Fire as Proof of Failure -
Union Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy (JDS) spoke to reporters, expressing deep dismay over the situation faced by sugarcane farmers.
"The crisis faced by sugarcane farmers has worsened. The incident where tractors loaded with sugarcane were burnt near the Mudhol Sugar Factory has caused me extreme astonishment. Kumaraswamy slammed the government, stating that while it somehow bought time during the protests in Belagavi, Vijayapura, and other key areas, it has shown a grave failure in managing the sugarcane farmers' crisis. He warned that the unfortunate incidents are a direct result of the farmers losing patience due to the government's ineptitude.
BJP State President Demands Immediate Action -
BJP State President B. Y. Vijayendra also weighed in, squarely blaming the state government for the crisis faced by the sugarcane-growing farmers.
He asserted that the farmers' demands are legitimate and pressed the Chief Minister to act immediately:
"The Chief Minister must immediately hold talks with the farmers' organizations and cooperate with their demands without any further delay."
