Karnataka to Replace NEP with SEP: Decision on New State Education Policy Expected in Next Cabinet Meeting!?

The state government is likely to take a decision on implementing the new SEP education policy in the upcoming cabinet meeting. The final report is awaited, and it is expected that several changes will be introduced in the implementation of SEP in place of NEP.

The Karnataka State Government is preparing to introduce its own comprehensive State Education Policy (SEP), effectively challenging and replacing the Central Government’s National Education Policy (NEP). A decision regarding the implementation of the new SEP is likely to be finalized in the upcoming Cabinet meeting.

The State had previously established a committee to draft the SEP. Reports suggest that this committee is now poised to submit its concise final report, paving the way for the new state curriculum to be introduced to students.

Cabinet Approval Imminent -

Preparation is underway to present the State Education Policy for approval in the next meeting of the Council of Ministers. Following directives from the Chief Minister, the Higher Education Department has prepared the final draft of the report.

The government is reportedly aiming for full-scale implementation of the SEP starting from the next academic year. Imagimake Mapology India with State Capitals - Educational Toy and Learning Aid for Boys and Girls - India Map Puzzle - Jigsaw Puzzle, 25 Pieces, Kids

What to Expect from the New Policy -

The shift from NEP to SEP is anticipated to bring significant revisions to the state's curriculum, focusing on alignment with regional requirements and policy priorities.

The adoption of the new SEP will be compulsory in all government and aided schools and colleges across Karnataka once the Cabinet gives its final nod, marking a major policy divergence from the nationally mandated education framework.

The state is now awaiting the final Cabinet decision, which will officially set the stage for this ambitious educational reform. Also Read: Government Jobs After 10th Grade: Immediate Career Opportunities for SSLC Pass Outs
