HYDERABAD: Prime Minister Narendra Modi wholeheartedly praised the young entrepreneurs who are driving a new revolution in India's space and technology sector. PM Modi declared, "India's future is being built by the young generation (Gen Z)."
He was speaking after virtually inaugurating Skyroot Aerospace's (a private Hyderabad-based space company) new and sprawling 'Infinity Campus' and unveiling 'Vikram-I', India's first private commercial orbital rocket.
Space Technology Under One Roof
Skyroot's new campus is a reflection of the potential of India's private space sector. This facility has the capability to comprehensively develop all key components under one roof, such as Propulsion (Engine), Avionics, Composites, and Orbital Launch (the ability to place payloads into orbit).
* One Rocket Per Month: This state-of-the-art campus, spanning 2 lakh square feet, has the capacity to build one orbital rocket every month.
* 'Vikram-I' Unveiled: The 'Vikram-I' rocket, unveiled by PM Modi, is capable of delivering satellites to Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and is the first private orbital rocket to be completely designed and built in India.
Young Power is the Driver of New Technology
Prime Minister Modi lauded the achievement, stating, "Skyroot's Infinity Campus is a reflection of India's new thinking, innovation, and, most importantly, the power of its youth. The innovation, risk-taking ability, and entrepreneurship of our youth have reached new heights today."
* Deep-Tech: PM Modi conveyed a clear message that the frontier of Deep-Tech in defense, space, and other sectors is now in the hands of young risk-takers, with young enterprises and Gen Z engineers, designers, and coders leading India's space sector.
* ISRO's Role: Modi praised the role of ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation), which has given wings to India's space journey for decades, and attributed this progress to the government's reforms that opened opportunities for the private sector.
