India has achieved a significant milestone in the 'Asia Power Index 2025' report released by the prominent global think tank, the Lowy Institute.

NEW DELHI: India has achieved a significant milestone in the 'Asia Power Index 2025' report released by the prominent global think tank, the Lowy Institute. India has secured the third position in the Comprehensive Power category among a total of 27 countries.

India scored 40.0 out of 100, which is a 0.9-point (+2%) gain from last year. The report highlights India's increasing influence and capacity in Asia's geopolitical landscape.

India Ranks 3rd in Key Indicators

According to the Lowy Institute's analysis, India has regained its status as a major power in Asia.

* Third Place: "India is a major power in Asia, having regained the 40-point threshold in 2025. Its score rose by 0.9 points this year. India now ranks third in two key indicators – namely Economic Capability and Future Resources.This year, India's Economic Capability ranking jumped by one spot to third place, thereby surpassing Japan.

New Record in Economic Relationships

In addition to economic growth, India's influence in international economic relations has also increased.

Due to stronger inward investment flows, India has risen to the ninth position in the Economic Relationships category. The report states that this is the first time India's ranking has risen in this specific category since the index began. This Lowy Index report clearly indicates that the momentum and capacity gained by India's economy and technology sectors at the global level are strengthening the country's comprehensive power.
