Retired Professor R.K. Hudagi stressed the critical need for a change in perspective to bring about transformation in the education sector during a thought-provoking seminar titled “Primary and Secondary Education: Challenges and Opportunities,” held in Kalaburagi.
The event, which focused on the concept of education and the role of teachers, was organized collaboratively by Sharanabasaveshwara College of Education, Government College of Education, Kalaburagi, and Azim Premji University, Bengaluru. The discussion took place at the Doddappa Appa Sabhamantapa on the Sharanabasava University campus.
Education System's Deterioration Poses a National Threat
In his inaugural address, Prof. Hudagi shared his strong views on the current state of education in the country.
“There is no need to drop a bomb to destroy any country’s system. If that country’s educational system is ruined, the nation will automatically deteriorate. Currently, our country is in a similar state. Transformation is possible only if we change our perspective,” he remarked.
Teachers Bear the Greatest Responsibility
Prof. Hudagi highlighted the immense role of educators in shaping the nation. He emphasized that the responsibility of creating good citizens rests most heavily on teachers.
He further pointed out a systemic failure, stating that the primary, secondary, and higher education systems in the country are being systematically undermined. As a result, quality education is accessible only to a certain class, leaving the majority without access to a high standard of schooling.
