It is reported that there is a demand to discuss this bill, which aims to establish a single regulatory authority for higher education, in the upcoming winter session of the Lok Sabha.

Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh has urged for the proposed Higher Education Control Bill 2025 to be discussed during the upcoming Winter Session of the Lok Sabha. The bill aims to establish a single regulatory authority for higher education in India.

Reportedly, Singh has specifically requested that the bill, which seeks to merge existing bodies like the UGC (University Grants Commission), AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education), and NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education) to reform India's higher education system, be referred to the Parliamentary Standing Committee.

Letter to Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan

As the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, and Youth, Digvijaya Singh is said to have made this appeal in a letter to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today.

“It is essential to review and discuss this significant legislation by reconstructing the country's existing education administration system,” Singh stated in his letter.
