Bengaluru: Following confusion regarding power-sharing and leadership change between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar in the state Congress, there have been talks that both the CM and DCM are attempting to put an end to the situation. Speaking on Saturday, former MP and D.K. Shivakumar’s brother, D.K. Suresh, completely dismissed the claims of factional politics. Suresh reiterated Sonia Gandhi's "words of sacrifice" and D.K. Shivakumar's commitment to the Gandhi family, making it clear that there is no factional politics in the state Congress.
Denial of Factional Politics:
"We don't have factional politics. DK Shi always says: all 140 MLAs are ours. I am the President."- D.K. Suresh clarified that all MLAs in the state belong to the Congress, and D.K. Shivakumar, as the State President, is leading everyone together.
He stressed that both leaders are working together, stating, "The CM and DCM have tried to put an end to the confusion." "D.K. Shivakumar has spoken about the Gandhi family at every stage. Sonia Gandhi's words of sacrifice" – he said that D.K. Shi has complete faith in the Gandhi family's leadership.
Rejection of Rumours:
Suresh alleged that the media distorted and reported a previous statement he made about CM Siddaramaiah. He clarified, "I did not say that the CM should stick to his word. My statement was distorted. What I said was different, what you are reporting is different."
He refused to comment on reports that the CM was angry about the power-sharing issue, saying, "The CM is angry about the power-sharing issue. I don't know about this." When asked about the meetings between the High Command leaders and state leaders, he simply justified it by saying, "High Command leaders are meeting because the Lok Sabha session is ongoing."
Expressing displeasure over the interpretation of leadership confusion as a 'temporary ceasefire', he pointed to the media, stating, "I don't know how you have interpreted it." Overall, D.K. Suresh's statements appear to be an attempt to dismiss the rumours of factional politics in the state Congress and showcase party unity. However, his clarification regarding the power-sharing and his previous statements about the CM has led to further discussion in the political circles.
