Chennai: Indian Railways has announced another significant amenity for its passengers. The facility of bed sheets and pillows (Bedroll), which was previously available only in AC coaches, has now been decided to be provided to passengers in Non-AC Sleeper Coaches as well.

The Chennai Division of Southern Railway is initiating this new scheme on a pilot basis, which will come into effect from January 1, 2026.

Facility and Fee Details:

Sleeper coach passengers can obtain Bedroll Sets by paying the following charges:

* Complete Set (One Bed Sheet, One Pillow, and Pillow Cover): ₹50

* Pillow and Pillow Cover Only: ₹30

* Bed Sheet Only: ₹20

Launched in 10 Express Trains

In the first phase, this service will be launched on a total of 10 pairs of Express trains originating from and managed by the Chennai Division. This facility has been launched under the 'New Innovative Non-Fare Revenue Ideas Scheme (NINFRIS)'. This new measure will be a great convenience for non-AC passengers, especially during winter and rainy season travel. To maintain hygiene and quality, the entire process will be mechanically managed through contractors.
